In the current lineup of, Olympus, Nikon, Zeiss I can not found an adapter to attach a lens interchangeable camera to a microscope. In the past Olympus had OM Photomicro Adapter L that attach OM mount camera to microscope. However the adapter is rarely appear on auction and very expensive. Moreover conversion adapter from OM mount to other camera mounts is expensive and less products. Camera adapter for camera port of 23.2 mm diameter has released in the past from Nikon (Nikon Micro Scope Adapter Kit Model 2 from Canon (Canon photo micro unit F). I do not know details of these products. In any case, the camera adapter can not be used without a relay lens, the focal length of the relay lens varies depending on the manufacturer or optical systems, so it will be in vain if you do not use correct combination of camera adapter and relay lens.
It is interesting trying out various camera adapters with try and error, but most effort became waste of money and time. Combination of individually designed optical equipment such as camera adapter and tele converter bring heavy aberration. In order to attach the interchangeable-lens camera to microscope, I tried to create a microscope camera adapter. Designed with 3D CAD and output with 3D printer. I make Olympus current camera port, Nikon current camera port, Zeiss current camera port and camera port with 23.2 mm diameter such as old Olympus, old Nikon, AmScope’s microscope. These microscope camera adapter must use with relay lens. The mount for attached camera body is F mount, and it can be adapted to the other camera mount using mount conversion adapter. Conversion adapter for F mount is released most abundantly therefore I choose F mount as base camera mount of microscope camera adapter.
In my environment, I attach an E mount camera using F - E mount conversion adapter to these microscope camera adapters. Most of the microscopic photos uploaded to this blog use this system. If you would like to take a microscopic photograph using these microscope camera adapter, you can get them in $90 on eBay.
