赤色背景の暗視野観察をした4K動画です。ヒドラがミジンコを捕獲して飲み込みます。触手の刺胞から毒針を刺して麻痺させたミジンコを丸飲みにしてしまいます。触手に触れても麻痺しないミジンコも居るので体の何処にでも毒針が刺さるわけではなさそうです。ミジンコの殻は防御に役立っているのかもしれません。

This is a 4K video of a dark-field observation with a red background. Hydra captures the Daphnia and swallows it. I will swallow a daphnia paralyzed by puncturing a tentacle with a poisonous needle. There are daphnia that do not paralyze even if they touch their tentacles, so it seems that poisonous needles do not stick anywhere on the body. The water flea shell may have helped in defense.
